Diversity Fair and Gambling Fever

Today was the annual diversity fair at work. The fair is run by employees in the corporate office and is hosted for the workers in the plant. There were a variety of tables such as:

-African American table
-Veteran's table
-Asian table
-Latino table
-Persian table
-Women table

I tried to get pictures of all the things but there was too much going on!

asian table. Yuengsheng was in charge of the table -- i was just helping out. she brought some really neat items such as a really classic chess board (created in india) and a nice tea set. some other fans and knickknacks were given to us by other co-workers in corporate. I brought in some indian items and wore a saree. I also brought in naan and a cilantro chutney (chutney was actually made by sketchy's mom).

spices i brought for the asian table display

america cake for the veteran's table

veteran's table -- this was one of the nicer ones. she also had a uniform from basically each branch hung up and put on manikins around the table.

there was dancing to african music. the music was actually really catchy.

and miriachi band!! i love miriachi bands because i used to play the trumpet and think they're super talented.

while we had time to kill, i wrapped a coworker in a saree. think i did a pretty good job. #proud

the african table was ooc with food -- they made tons of things and lots of variety

women's table

latinos actually had two tables and they were filled with all sorts of items from various countries in latin america.

forgot what these were called but it was a cheese/cornmeal-y thing.

We ended up eating a Shahi Paneer i brought home from work. It was super good and a bit spicy. I found out that the original recipe was 2x as spicy. They had to cut it in half twice and it's STILL spicy. Can't imagine what that taste test was like on the first try!

After dinner we met up with Scott and his friend Alex (from out of town) at Maryland Live. The limits were higher than we expected... should have realized it was a Friday night. Didn't really stop anyone though. We all ended up playing for a few hours. I think everyone left even or up so successful! Sketchy kinda watched the entire time i played. Then after Scott and Alex left he decided to take a seat next to me and play and i decided to sit out since i was a bit up and didn't care to lose it. Sketchy ended up doing super well. Think i've got him somewhat hooked on gambling which makes me rlly happy because now our vacations can always include a little bit of gambling fun too. =))

sketchy's chips. =)

This weekend is going to be super busy. We've got Sketchy's cousin's daughter Pria's first birthday party and then probably hanging out with some of his cousins who are in town just for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
