First Suburban Halloween

As i drove through our neighborhood on my way home from work i saw lots of little clusters of costumed kids! As I pulled into our driveway I saw a group of kids and a parent walking past our house. I got out of the car and creepily yelled HEY! WE HAVE CANDY!! because evidently having the front light and all the lights on in the house was not a clear enough indication. The kids got really excited and walked up to our door with me. We later realized that the lady who lived at our house before did not hand out candy or participate in halloween! A few kids said 'so happy this house finally has candy!!' I wish i had gotten some outside decorations so more people would have known.

handing out candy to the children was actually much more eventful and exciting than i thought it'd be. I really wasn't super excited about it. Sketchy opened the door and handed out the candy for the most part. He was super cute with the kids. =)

The kids were all super happy and cute in their costumes. Some were really funny. There was a little boy who was Sy from Duck Dynasty. We also saw tons of fairies and superheros.

Sketchy was doing most of the candy handing out because I was making dinner. Trick-or-treaters were done by around 7:30-8:00pm.

made a pan seared salmon situation

Added rice. This is something my mom used to make when i was younger.
Sketchy liked! Seafood win!

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween! Happy almost Friday!

Sick and Last Vegas Fail

This morning I decided to just stay home from work, medicate, sleep and knock this cold out so i'll be good to go for the rest of the week/weekend. Have some fun things coming up and don't want to miss out. Plus i'm never productive when i don't feel well.

Sketchy scored free screenings to Last Vegas which I've been wanting to see. Didn't make it because not feeling up to leaving the house. Fail.

Tomorrow is halloween. Think we're just going to stay home and hand out candy to the children if we get any. not sure how busy it'll be but i got a couple bags of random things.

Pinterest Night

Yesterday Robbie came over and we had dinner and pinterested. =)

For dinner I made chipotle chicken tacos (and also had Fish from Sunday so did some fish tacos too).

After dinner we headed downstairs and set-up our festive mess.

I've been wanting to get some holiday stuff done for decorations. I decided on painting/drawing on our pumpkins instead of carving. Much less messy!

Think they came out pretty okay. The N is a little funky but meh.
We tossed these out on our front stoop. =)

Robbie made a fall wreath which turned out super cute. She got all the good things from michael's. She asked if i needed anything and i said glue for glue gun if she was going to need to use it, she showed up with a years supply of glue and didn't even use the glue gun. Thanks robbie for all the glue. I really should have taken a picture. I'll now think of you anytime i craft lol.

this was a cute picture, but i made her retake since it was crooked.

finished product more straight. super cute!

Successful Pinterest night, also pretty impressed with my pinterest night consistency. I've been getting quite a few projects done in the last couple months! Going to need to have a serious night to get a lot of xmas decorations done for the house. we're hoping to have some sort of xmas party.

One Fall of a Weekend

This weekend was absurdly fall-filled.

Friday night sketchy and I went on our fall date night. We went to a pretty well-known pumpkin patch in the NOVA area -- Cox Farms. We went to their nighttime event "field of fears."

It was sketchy's friday off so he marinated wings in three diff sauces. The detroit honey whatever one was superrrr good.

Pumpkin pictures and those are actually sketchy's feet.

We bought tickets ahead of time which we were thankful about because the line was ooc. The web site was advertising a haunted hayride, haunted corn maze and giant bon fire with music and activities. We skipped the corn maze because that seemed a little too creepy for us.

We first headed over to the haunted hay ride which i was supperrr excited about. On the way we saw KETTLE CORN!

I was trying to explain why it wasn't just called pop corn and was debating whether i should buy that GIANT bag or not when a guy who worked there walked over and asked why i was taking pictures of the kettle corn. lol He said "why don't you get some instead of just taking pictures of it!" sketchy made some comment about me loving pictures and loving to watch things more than enjoy them myself so the guy was like NO we're going to fix this, how about you get in the picture and enjoy some of that kettle corn. he opened a random bag and made us take this picture:

I felt bad afterwards and said i'd buy the bag since he opened it! then he asked if i put my pictures up on social media. i said of course... so he said if i pinky promised to tag cox farms he'd give me the bag lol. I still tried to pay but he gave us that giant bag free.

I ended up tagging them in a couple other photos i took there that i really liked:

Alright, back to our night. Kettle corn in hand, we waited in line for the haunted hay ride. The lines weren't that bad. Lotttss of high school kids! I kept kidding with sketchy throughout the week that we were going on our VA HS date that we missed out on as kids.

the hayride

they had a few bonfires going around the food stands and dance party area...lol

high school kids dance party lol

we acted like children with all the props.

then we spent some time in the market area.

fall!

JAMS.

Sketchy found a gourd that looked like a swan.

Saturday we went to a really local (like 3 miles from the house) pumpkin patch with Nimisha, Umesh, Simaya, Lisa and Pria! Babies at pumpkin patches are much more adorable than i anticipated.

Nimisha and Simaya. Haha loved her halloween costume.

Pria looking up at Uncle Sketchy

I love this one where they're holding hands. =) Cousins!

Pria on hayride

family pic on hayride!

this crazy man walked out of no where behind the tractor. Scared the crap out of me when i looked back! lol

Then we did this absurd activity where you put ppl in these containers and roll them down a hill.

Sketchy was excited.

he actually rolled pretty far. i like that it took two of them to push him lol.

Slides!

Pria tried eating the pumpkin.

really like this candid of umesh making simaya laugh!

photoshoot time. they're such happy babies

super cute when they hold hands.

Love how much Simaya looks like she's about to topple over. Drunk baby.

omg so they had a petting zoo and had lamb. they were so cute. i felt unbelievably horrible about all the lamb i eat!

Finally we took our traditional Fall pumpkin patch picture:

I love this picture of the prior years!

Saturday night we went out with friends to Clarendon Grill to see a really awesome cover band. We spent the morning before pumpkin patch and afternoon after pumpkin patch running around to put some sort of costume together. Three party/costume stores later, we finally ended up with random things.

so many choices.

gonzo's nose

I mainly became army/military chick because of the awesome hat i found. Will def be wearing that to future country concerts.

Sketchy went as himself (aka rick ross) lol

Misha's costume was awesome as was he that night.

navy/army and commander-in-chief.

Sunday was the Jags v Niners game. I made way too much food (as always). Went Fish and Chips since our game was in London. Sketchy's dad and some friends came over. The game was terrible as expected. Sketchy and I are still friends.

The end. You made it! I'll save monday festivities for tomorrow's post.
