It's Beginning to Feel a lot Like...

SPRINGTIME! Yes, spring is most definitely in the air. Literally. And it's killing me. The pollens are in full force. I saw the first few trees start to bloom out in DC a couple days ago. Super super excited for spring weather -- perfect temperature, but then again this is the time of year I live off of benedryl. Sigh.

Anyways, with all this beautiful weather and things blooming, I got serious about the liquor infusion situation for our March Mix-off Madness at the end of the month. I went with a lot of light and tropical fruits to welcome spring!

They're so colorful. Gah, can't wait to try them in a couple weeks!

Here you'll notice the mason jar lids are darker than usual...

That's because I chalkboard-paint sprayed them! I was too impatient to let it dry for forever, so I ended up just scratching the surface with a regular pen. What you're seeing is the original lid color as the letters. It works.

My new kitchen decor. Me likey. The mixed berry (raspberry, blackberry and blueberry) gin looks ooc since it's completely purple! JUICE.

I also did a 5 minute DIY tonight. Very productive evening. It involves fabric which reminds me that I discovered awesomeness. Everyone may already know about this but in case you don't, most fabric stores have these:

They're just pre cut squares of awesome patterned fabric. Lots are in packages like the one pictured above with alike patterns. Many are just one piece and vary in sizes. Quick and easy and cheaper!

Anyways, tonight's DIY was just cork boards put together and upholstered but I really like it. First of many pieces of the office.

I'm thinking it needs a border. Maybe crown molding? Maybe a simple black strip of paint around it? We'll see. I'll probably end up moving that up to line up with the top of the bookshelf so that I can paint a chalkboard calendar on the wall or put up a white board to write on.

Chalkboard calendar would be something like this:

In putting up these pictures, I finally uploaded pics from my camera so I have quite a few random photos from the past week or so.

Picture on my camera came out better than the iphone picture. Shows the snow in action a bit more.

Mo and Lucy had quite the conversations while he was up here.

Orchid-Mistletoe

The greek-esque pasta I made while Mo was here. Wheat penne, olives, chicken sausage, spinach, red onions, in a tomato-tzatziki sauce with fresh feta sprinkled on top.

After buying and looking at various place mats on the table, we finally went with these. I like them. Think they'll go well with the wall art that is to come. Goes well with the color of wood too.

These are gourmet doggy treats that Catherine got Lucy and Charlie a while ago. I had been saving them in their dog treat bin. They were super good one day, so I broke these out. They were seriously licking their lips for an hour afterwards.

Tequila-Lime Cilantro chicken I made while Kerry was up here

Alrighty, think that was enough for today. Sorry so random and all over the place. Had to catch up with all the pictures!

Happy almost Friday!
