Today I had training from 7:45am-1PM. Day 3 of training and it's still looking good. It's sketchy's Friday off from work so we headed out to Home Depot.
Time is springing forward on Sunday and we should be seeing some better weather to start working on the yard! Much needed. We took a look at the gardening center and picked up some pesticides and grass treatment type things to get our soil under control before we do anything else.
While in the garden center I saw this magicalness:
Whiskey Barrels
Gah, I LOVE whiskey and wine barrels, crates and all sorts of wooden items. So much that I have a whole board just for wooden items on pinterest. Anyways, I really want to get one of these once we start decorating the yard (so many steps ahead of myself -- we first need to get rid of english ivy, then fence, THEN decorate). This is what I'd like to do:
Perfect lighting situation for an evening thing.
There were two other items we wanted to go to Home Depot for. First, I needed to grab some sandpaper and gel stain for the little wine cabinet for the wine wall. Want to change it from a gray to a dark brown to match the other furniture. I know this wine wall has been a project for what seems like ever, but it'll be done soon!
Second, we wanted to pick up a few items to make a piece for the mudroom. This will be the last wall to fix up in the entryway! We picked up a piece of wide crown molding and hooks. Here's the inspiration for what I'm doing:
I first saw this which was pretty but we do not have a corner space like this. I really liked the idea of crown molding or a wooden bar with hooks.
Then I found this.
Our wall is about the size of the above picture. We bought a crown molding piece about 5 feet long and 5 large silver hooks. I painted the crown molding a black to match the other furniture pieces in the mudroom area. I think we're going to put a mirror up over the hooks though, instead of art. We'll see what happens.
In life news we can all use, this weekend is St. Patty's. Last St. Patty's Sketchy and I went to NYC.
This year we'll be spending it in DC. Not sure what the plans are yet but I'm sure it'll be fun-filled.
Think that's it for now. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
