Weekend Festivities and Dinner Pho Sho

Saturday we got Sketchy's jersey!

they look so good! Sketchy's is a cheapo jersey since he just bought a nice kaepernick one for him, but it's still nice and wearable on football sundays when kaepernick starts sucking! =)

Saturday Scott, Miriam and AJ came over to help out with the yard. Sketchy's dad also spent saturday here and then spent the night after a long exhausting day of yard work.

Scott and Miriam brought Penny and baby along. Penny is the funniest best baby dog ever! She loved the stairs. She'd stand at the bottom just waiting for someone to call her up. She couldn't climb the stairs without encouragement but always found herself back down at the bottom waiting for some attention! lol

this is where she'd wait for someone to come notice she was missing!

it was the craziest thing.

tried to get an action shot of the guys but they were machines. Moved so fast. I kept getting distracted with cooking.

this is the best i could do -- a picture once they were all done coming in for some grub!

Miriam and I were no real help. We stayed inside and cooked and had tummy time with Hailey:

haha she's so chubby -- look at those arms!

super cute!

I didn't get a good picture of the lunch but i made buffalo chicken quesadillas for lunch.

AJ headed off to do flip cup league and Scott and Miriam headed home to a kitten they were sitting. Sketchy's cousins Lisa and Nilesh came over for dinner with their baby Pria. We failed so badly at getting any pictures of them or pria. But i did get pictures of dinner and new lazy susan and serving platter we actually used!

i love this thing! it's 6 separate dishes but fits on the lazy susan.

we did baked potatoes and so these were toppings -- sour cream, cheese, broccoli, grilled peppers and onions, cilantro and jalapeno. the last one was actually a chili paneer i made for the first time (this was obviously for his dad -- it actually came out pretty good!)

grilled (used flour to bread which worked well) crispy chicken for the meat eaters. =)

the set-up. hot sauces from New Orleans in the background there!

Sunday we went to the cliff to take our save the date photos. Some came out really well but stupid me took a low battery camera and thus camera died after only doing a few shots. We'll have to go back, but we got some fun shots with an iPhone that i posted on fb. Won't actually post the real ones! We're gonna make them into magnets and send them out soon hopefully.

We hung around the city for a bit. Grabbed some ice cream and enjoyed the beautiful weather and then headed home for a really nice lowkey movie night! POPCOORRRRNN. We watched Admission which was just a movie of 1000 awkward scenes. Awkward on purpose, it was their character. Was pretty funny but not the best movie ever or anything. Expected more from Tina Fay and Paul Rudd.

movie night. =)

Today we started laying some patio stuff down.

this firepit looks so tiny in this space, the patio will be a good size!

here's a more close up pic of firepit to show actual size

and fron the size. think it's pretty. will make it a bit taller.

can't wait to get the bricks laid and the bar wall laid too! i can picture it more and more as the days go by. Weather is taking a nice little turn, hopefully i'm not jinxing this. Will be easier to want to work outside!

I also made Pho (still on the 65.00 grocery since we cheated last Thursday). Used the crockpot. It was super super delicious! again, this meal was under 15.00! but also leads to two meals because we have half the ingredients to make pho another time!

sketchy likes it hot. he puts jalapenos on top

and hot sauce. ooc.

mine. a bit more plain.

Need pho bowls and spoons. want them so bad but can't really find anywhere to register for them or really find a nice set for us to just buy. Pho is sketchy's favorite take out thing to get which we will make much more often, esp since it's so easy!

This was a new discovery that i'd super recommend to anyone who likes to cook with cilantro based anything or just with fresh cilantro:

there are 20 cubes in there and it breaks up very easily to add to a rub or rub on meats or to have dissolve in broths/sauces. I usually cook with fresh cilantro but that usually means having to stop at the grocery store since cilantro is really only good for one meal before it gets soggy in the fridge. This is the perfect solution and only ~2.60. Will last a long time! Tossed a few of these into the crockpot for the pho today.

That's it. Eventful Monday. Setting the tone for this week which is super busy but that means lots to look forward to. Tomorrow we're doing patio stuff and hopefully seeing some more progress. Wednesday we're going to a nats game. Thurs and Fri we're doing things for  birthdays! Saturday we're getting house prepped for a religious 'blessing of home' ceremony we're doing on Sunday. Just a small thing for sketchy's family.

Once we're through Sunday everything gets super exciting with the end of this month and September around the corner! Lots of tailgating and vacation time coming up and hopefully some nice weather change continuing. =)
