Alrighty, so I'd first like to preface this with the fact that I'm obviously extremely behind in my posts. I'm going to do my best to remember what the hell I did for the past two weeks. Usually I use my pictures on my phone to remind me -- but as we all know, my phone was stolen in Michigan!
I had dinner with Sam at a Peruvian Chicken place that was wayyyyy better than Nandos. It was soooo good. We then went to the container store (first time) which I naturally loved. Then I headed to the friendship heights theater to meet sketchy to watch a free screening of The Place Beyond the Pines. The movie was really heavy. The trailer was really vague so it was interesting to see how the movie played out. I liked it, but still don't exactly know how I feel about it. I'd suggest it to people who like movies just about people's lives... like the good and the bad of things. Definitely not escapism, lighthearted movie.
The most massive travel fail of my life also occurred today. I'm usually perfectly fine with planning and organizing, especially when it comes to travel arrangements -- after all the majority of my past jobs have been maintaining travel arrangements for the office personnel.
Detroit:
First, I was informed that there were super cheap flights between DC and Detroit. Jumped on the opportunity only to find out that some dates were restricted and that most of the flights were already sold out. Already in the state of mind that I was going, I didn't care about paying a slightly higher price since it was still pretty cheap. Booked a flight and also had Diana book her flight for a Fri-Mon trip.
An hour later, I realize that this weekend I had booked for Detroit was already booked for a baby shower! So I then contact Diana and explain that we have to move the whole thing to maybe a less convenient weekend. I then find out that the new weekend is even MORE expensive. Already invested, I decided to pay the extra for me and for Diana since this was all my fault on planning fail.
This was in February. Thursday was the night before the flight. I go to check in, only to realize that I evidently only changed DIANA'S flight information and NOT MINE! Panic is an understatement for what I felt. I immediately checked all bank records and emails frantically hoping something was wrong. Nope. I failed. Naturally, I checked to see if I could change my flight. The flight I should have been on was completely booked, as were all the others for Saturday. There was only an 8AM flight out of Baltimore that was open, but about 3 times the price of my original flight (since last minute that makes sense!). Then I called Southwest begging them to do something for me. The lady was extremely nice and said she'd put me on the 8am flight. This conversation was at about 12AM. So basically I had 5 hours to sleep, pack and head out to Baltimore!
And that was the end of Thursday.
I think I was too stressed about all the fails surrounding this trip to be excited anymore. Was pretty sure I was going to miss my flight.
