So this past weekend was eventful. First, we found out that Paradise Cove (the amazing venue that was perfect for our wedding theme "simple shore elegance") was available on the Monday of MLK weekend. While we wanted a Saturday and Sunday wedding/reception, lots of research told us that there was no outdoor venue quite like this one for this price in the location we needed. Sketchy and I talked it out and decided that a Sunday/Monday wedding/reception wouldn't be the end of the world. Instead of taking off Friday, people could come into town on Saturday and take off Tuesday.
We can also play with the idea of day drinking/daytime reception so that people can get to bed earlier and have an early start on Tuesday. I'm sure we'll figure it out, but we're happy to have the venue we really loved!
We talked to his parents and they were fine with the idea as well so it's all set now! Now that we have the date 100% set, we're going to get save the dates made (we've had the idea for a long time now! -- we're going to do magnets but the picture is what i'm most excited about) and get those sent out soon!
Saturday we hung out at Sketchy's parents' house. Saturday night we went bowling and got whooped by his dad. I was pretty surprised that he was such a good bowler. By the third game I was starting to get into my groove but the bowling ally was closing =(. While I did not beat his dad, I did beat sketchy in both games!
Sunday we were going to head out earlier. I usually make it a point to go to the potomac river on Father's Day every year but this year we stuck around for dinner with his dad. We figured we could just do a potomac river cruise and dinner Monday night. We have lots of extra potomac river cruise tickets to use since we had bought some for family during engagement that never got used!
On Monday Sketchy gave me this before heading out to the potomac river cruise:
He had worked with Dero and her mom to get pictures of my dad, got them printed at Walgreens and bought a frame.
I think we're going to get a different frame but I thought this was extremely thoughtful and nice of Sketchy! There's actually one picture that I want to get my hands on again. I had it in my old phone that got stolen. It was a picture of my brother sitting on my dad's lap where my brother was being bottle fed Budweiser, lol. It's such a perfect picture!
Sketchy's pretty good with the gifts thing. Last year he got me this:
it's a water fountain, you fill it with whatever water and it recycles the water and shoots it through the heart in a circle.
He got it with the intention of getting potomac water to put in the fountain. We have yet to get the potomac water or run the fountain but again thoughtful and witty. The fountain also says "let love flow."
We ended up taking our time and choosing to try out a new place called Naan and Beyond in DC instead of the boat cruise. We then spent the rest of the night at the georgetown waterfront (which has come A LONG way). It's so pretty with all the seating areas and the giant steps that go right down to the water. There's also this crazy fountain thing that people let their kids run through.
It was a really good night.
Awww those are such awesome gifts from Sketchy! :-)

(sigh) something u can't really control(unless ur like celebrities who plan their c-section at times!). Lol but its ok I guess and yes! Holidays make life easier! No excuses!! Lol except ur cousin who has the med skool life. That's pretty legit lol
ReplyDeletehaha people made her feel guilty enough that she's gonna be at the wedding. she's going to try to take the test early.
ReplyDeletealso that is cool with the 8-9-10.
anyone can plan a c section -- not just celebrities. lol the birthday will be special because it will be YOUR CHILD'S birthday.
