This weekend was super fun. We started off early saturday heading home from fburg to get the dogs settled, shower and get ready to head to silver spring to scott and miriam's place.
Scott organized a surprise birthday party for Miriam. So while we were out in bethesda Scott and sketchy were setting up the apartment and getting all the things (food/drinks) all the while babysitting hailey. Kudos to Scott for being super mr. mom and awesome hubby.
like the hanging growlers
and the kegs up top!
we did flights and a bday car bomb
and filled up some growlers. i was excited to use our sweetwater growler!
When we got back to the apartment there were asian-esque banners and stickers outside the door. Miriam found it hilarious. I didn't understand because i always forget she's half asian, lol.
miriam and her asian things
more asian things. lots of tastey sushi. Miriam's friend Shellie also made crockpot meatballs which i hear were very good.

After killing the pitchers of very sneaky/tastey rum punches in games of flip cup, all the girls took a dogpark break. Evidently everyone and their mother has a dog. With a bottle of champagne and 4 dogs we headed downstairs to their apt dogpark area.

After some more drinks and fun company we headed home. Very successful day. Hope Miriam enjoyed it, but i'd say by the end of the night she was pretty happy. =) Happy 45th Miriam! (i kept saying this all day to her. she's obviously not anywhere close to 45).
haha love this picture
Sunday morning i woke up realizing that i left my purse in Bethesda at the nail salon place. So we woke up, got dressed and headed out to bethesda. it ended up being a beautiful day so we decided to grab lunch and walk around.

We grabbed lunch at bulocco. This was the first time either of us had tried it. was super good. ethnic burritos. we got a couple small ones to try diff things. we got the buffalo chicken, chicken tikka, cajun and some traditional mexican. I liked the buffalo chicken burrito the most -- naturally.
i love the cuteness that is bethesda. always have.
i might have to trek out to bethesda just to get one of these shipyard pumpkinheads before fall is over! it's seriously the only place i've found it in the DMV area.
pretty!
we walked by these old people and sketchy said "look, that's us in 5 years" what the heck? lol
PAPER SOURCE. one of my favs. we spent some time here getting some invitation stuff.
The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging out in the basement watching the tv shows i missed on Wednesday because i'm old and can't stay awake and then just watched other football games. There was probably some food involved and then i fell asleep super early again.
Yesterday was Diwali (a big festival of lights/holiday for hindus but also in India in general). It's a whole interesting story in our version of the bible as to why we light the candles on that specific holiday. if you're feeling adventurous and want to learn something new wiki diwali.

Today is a gujarati holiday (or at least i'm convinced it's only them that celebrate it). They call it new years. I think it goes back to the day after diwali being the end of the crop season so they pray and celebrate an ending of one season and hope for a new season? Learning my guju holidays! Sal Mubarak to all the patels out there lol.
In this new year, sketchy started a new chapter in his bechtel work life. First day at his reston office which is pretty sweet. If you refer back to Friday's post you'll see the ugly satellite building he used to be in and the dim gray office/desk setting.
Here's his new set-up!
pretty new desk!
sketchy sent me this picture to assure me that marmy survived the move. marmy is a monkey i got sketchy a long time ago since he always said he wanted a monkey.
everything looks so much better in this office!
pretty view. i love fall foliage!
sketchy was also really excited about how stocked the kitchen was. he also sent a picture of all the snacks they had but i have no idea what i did with that picture.
In addition to being a much brighter and happier place, he's in walking distance of many lunch places so he doesn't have to go drive somewhere for lunch! I've never seen him so happy to go to work as he was this morning! He's in work heaven right now lol.
